That isn’t to say that all ideas that men have come up with have been good ideas. In fact, some of them have been downright awful. Make sure that your proposal isn’t one of these ideas – it could wreck your special day!
Horrible Idea #1 – Proposing In The Ocean
Ah, the warm summer breeze, the gentle lapping of the waves, and your beautiful fiancee… how could this go wrong? Proposing while swimming in the ocean has every single awesomely romantic element that the beginning of a fairytale wedding could have, right? Well, yes, until someone accidentally drops the thousand-dollar engagement ring into the ocean and loses it forever…
Horrible Idea #2 – The Sports Fan Proposal
This is a proposal idea that is actually somewhat common – displaying the proposal on a halftime scoreboard, with the mascot and sports team cheering on the happy couple. It seems like a great idea through the eyes of most guys, but not most girls. Most women do not like the idea of being proposed to in the middle of a beer-soaked sports game.
Moreover, there is also the issue of “what if?” to worry about. Do you really want to be the guy who gets rejected by his girlfriend in the middle of a basketball stadium, with only the mascot there trying to comfort him? No, no you do not want to be that guy.

Please, for the sake of the in-laws…just don’t do it. Trust us on this.
Horrible Idea #4 – Hiding The Ring In Food
Hiding an engagement ring in your girlfriend’s cupcake sounds adorable at first glance. She pulls a ring out of her mouth, you ask her if she would be your wife, and she squeals with joy. The only problem is that placing an engagement ring in food can be hazardous to your girlfriend’s health and teeth. If she bites into the ring too quickly, she can chip her tooth on her own engagement ring! Moreover, there is also a choking hazard associated with putting rings in food. Performing the Heimlich maneuver on your date will not be very romantic, we can assure you of that.
Worse still is what happens if your girlfriend accidentally swallows the ring. You can only imagine the look of horror on her face when you tell her she just inhaled a diamond ring, and that you need to call an ambulance immediately. Worse still, imagine trying to tell her that she has to fish out the ring after she’s digested it. At least the staff at your local hospital will probably find it funny…
Horrible Idea #5 – Proposing At A Fast Food Joint
We kid you not, there have actually been couples who had their marriage proposal staged at a fast food restaurant. Can you imagine trying to tell your grandchildren about how you received your marriage proposal over an extra large fries? Chances are high that you wouldn’t be able to tell that story with a straight face.
